Screens that ask less

Five tools that exchange glare and visual urgency for paper-like surfaces and more deliberate input.

A screen does not have to behave like a small light source competing for attention. The objects here use e-paper, monochrome interfaces, and physical controls to separate useful information from the pressure to keep looking.

Two notebooks make focused writing portable. A keyboard puts the pointer under the hands, a companion panel gives an existing phone a quieter surface, and one complete phone commits to e-paper all the way through. None makes digital life disappear; each gives it a calmer place to happen.
